This Month:
March’s HW theme is: Amphibians. There will be 2 classes for this lesson.
1-2:30pm: Amphibian Lesson
1st Grade and under, with a maximum of 20 participants. This session we will learn about what makes an amphibian so special, different types of amphibians, and explore looking for and listening for different amphibians!
1-2:30pm: Amphibian Lesson
2nd – 5th Grade, with a maximum of 15 participants. This session we will go on an amphibian hike looking for and listening for the sounds of amphibians! While doing this we’ll learn about the unique characteristics of amphibians and some of the special amphibians in Iowa.
One Wednesday each month, we will have a specific program topic chosen. There will be different times specified for different age groups to allow learning at their level, with their peers. The topic may be the same but have slightly different activities based on the ages present.
Our wish is that Homeschool Wednesdays offers a chance for non-traditionally educated students to get together with other students their age to learn about a fun, educational topic. We also hope this serves as a new outlet to socialize with other students who are also learning at home.
We hope you will take advantage of our trails, shelters, and Nature Center before and/or after your child’s age group’s program to take an exploration hike, bring a lesson from home to a new setting, eat lunch, or explore the exhibits in the nature center.
