February’s HW theme is: Snow. There will be 3 classes for this lesson. Registrations will open 1 month prior to the date at 10am.
***Due to an all staff training, we had to adjust some of the times of these classes.**
9-10am: Snow Lesson – Registration closed. FULL
1st Grade and under, with a maximum of 25 participants. This session we will learn about what snow is, where it comes from, and make a fun snowy craft! This session will mostly be indoors.
10:00-11:00am: Snow Lesson
2nd Grade – 5th Grade with a maximum of 25 participants. This session we will learn about how snow is made, and the different types of snow, and make a fun snowy craft! This session will mostly be indoors.
6th Grade & Up with a maximum of 20 participants. This session we will learn about the history of snowshoes, how to measure and put on snowshoes, and we will go on a snowshoe hike. This session will be mostly outdoors, please wear sturdy, warm, waterproof boots. (Ugg type boots don’t work very well for this.)
*This program requires 4 or more inches of snow to prevent damage to the snowshoes, and will be canceled if we do not have enough snow.*
One Wednesday each month, we will have a specific program topic chosen. There will be different times specified for different age groups to allow learning at their level, with their peers. The topic may be the same but have slightly different activities based on the ages present.
Our wish is that Homeschool Wednesdays offers a chance for non-traditionally educated students to get together with other students their age to learn about a fun, educational topic. We also hope this serves as a new outlet to socialize with other students who are also learning at home.
We hope you will take advantage of our trails, shelters, and Nature Center before and/or after your child’s age group’s program to take an exploration hike, bring a lesson from home to a new setting, eat lunch, or explore the exhibits in the nature center.
