SUMMARY:2024 Twister Annual Halloween Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join Warren County Conservation for a Twister of a Halloween Hike! This is years theme is all about severe weather! Trek down the jack o’ lantern lit trail and meet some interesting weather phenomenon\, including a tornado\, thunder storm\, blizzard\, hail\, and floods.\n\nAfterwards\, you can enjoy a craft and a snack in the nature center. After the hike you can make a craft and enjoy some treats. The cost is $5 per person and those under 3 are free.\n**Registration is required. Contact 515-961-6169 to register and ask for Hannah or Kelsey**\n\nHikes leave the nature center at 6:30\, 6:40\, 6:50\, 7:00\, 7:10\, 7:20\, and 7:30.\n**Registration and prepayment are required. Call 515-961-6169 to register.\n\n**Please arrive at the Annett Nature Center 5-10 minutes early to get checked in. The hikes leave the nature center at the scheduled times. In order to maintain the schedule throughout the entire night\, we will not hold hikes. If you arrive late for your scheduled time\, we will do our best to get you into the next open time\, however that may be at the end of the night. We do have a maximum number of hikers per group time to avoid overcrowding\, and to make sure everyone can hear at each stop on the trail.**

You can observe this festive day in any way you like\, make a mud pie\, have a mud bath\, or a mud mask! \nGet as muddy as you can\, we’ll have a hose available for a quick rinse-off after you are done enjoying yourself. If so\, this is the event for you. This workshop provides a comfortable environment to try new outdoor activities\, engage in hands-on workshops\, interactive sessions\, and guided activities led by experienced instructors.  You can campout and socialize Friday night\, then attend general and breakout sessions on Saturday. (In addition to learning and hands on experiences\, Wild Outdoor Women emphasizes the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants. Social gatherings\, group discussions\, and networking opportunities allow women to connect\, share experiences\, and build lasting friendships while breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes.) \nSession Information?\nThis year you can choose from sessions including: Fire Starting\, Night Hike\, Intro to Backpacking\, High Ropes\, Macrame\, Building and Protecting Ecosystems\, Wild Edibles Part 1\, Wild Edibles Part 2\, Backyard Birdfeeders\, Native American Celebration and Storytelling\, Power Tools – DIY Tray Feeder\, and Weather Preparedness. \nWho Can Attend?\nWomen 12 & older are invited to participate in this event. DESCRIPTION:Have some fishing fun with us! Bring the family out to participate in the art of fishing. The fishing competition will take place at Lester Pond. There will be awards\, door prizes\, and a free fish-cleaning demonstration. Bring your own pole or borrow one of ours. Bait will be provided. You will also be able to try fish bites cooked by the Izaak Walton League. *Fish will be fried in peanut oil.* It’s FREE — join us. A fishing license is not required for participants at Kid’s Fish Day. Please register each child so we can plan for bait and materials! Come discover the fun and excitement of geocaching\, the high tech outdoor scavenger hunt that uses a Global Positioning System (GPS) unit! \nJoin a Warren County Conservation Board Naturalist for a beginner course to learn about geocaching and how to use the Geocaching app on your phone. Then head out in the park to find “treasures” called caches. Fun for the whole family! After this session you will be prepared to head out on your own and find the Geocaching Mineral Adventure caches hidden in Warren County Parks. \nThis activity is free but please register by Tuesday\, April 23rd. Children must be accompanied by an adult. \nIt is a good idea to create an account on the geocaching app or on geocaching.com prior to the event.
