This milestone marks half a century of dedicated service to preserving Warren County’s natural resources\, enhancing outdoor recreation opportunities\, and fostering environmental education in our local community. \nTo honor this significant achievement\, we are hosting a special anniversary celebration: \n\nDate: November 14th\, 2024\nTime: 5:00-7:00pm\nLocation: Annett Nature Center\, 15565 118th Avenue\, Indianola\, Iowa\, 50125\n\nOver the past 50 years\, our department’s services have brought great value to our local communities. To continue this excellence\, we also depend on invaluable support and collaboration with partners and the public. This anniversary event will be an opportunity to meet our staff\, learn about our shared accomplishments\, showcase the work we do\, and highlight the importance of continuing our conservation legacy into the future. \nThe ANC will be open to the public to explore and visit with WCCB staff. Our staff will have display booths for education\, administration\, and field operations. Food trucks will be staged outside for all attendees to buy food from. Fiscal Year 2025 is halfway through\, but there is new focus on what we have recently accomplished and what is on the horizon. Please stop by – we would love to hear about your memories and experiences while exploring Warren County Conservation areas or programs! \nOur team hopes that you can join us in commemorating this important milestone and in celebrating all that we have achieved together\, as a community\, for our community. \nThank you for your continued participation and commitment to conservation with a positive land ethic. \nI hope you have a great fall season. SUMMARY:2024 Twister Annual Halloween Hike
DESCRIPTION:Join Warren County Conservation for a Twister of a Halloween Hike! This is years theme is all about severe weather! Trek down the jack o’ lantern lit trail and meet some interesting weather phenomenon\, including a tornado\, thunder storm\, blizzard\, hail\, and floods.\n\nAfterwards\, you can enjoy a craft and a snack in the nature center. After the hike you can make a craft and enjoy some treats. The cost is $5 per person and those under 3 are free.\n**Registration is required. Contact 515-961-6169 to register and ask for Hannah or Kelsey**\n\nHikes leave the nature center at 6:30\, 6:40\, 6:50\, 7:00\, 7:10\, 7:20\, and 7:30.\n**Registration and prepayment are required. Call 515-961-6169 to register.\n\n**Please arrive at the Annett Nature Center 5-10 minutes early to get checked in. The hikes leave the nature center at the scheduled times. In order to maintain the schedule throughout the entire night\, we will not hold hikes. If you arrive late for your scheduled time\, we will do our best to get you into the next open time\, however that may be at the end of the night. We do have a maximum number of hikers per group time to avoid overcrowding\, and to make sure everyone can hear at each stop on the trail.**

This workshop provides a comfortable environment to try new outdoor activities\, engage in hands-on workshops\, interactive sessions\, and guided activities led by experienced instructors.  You can campout and socialize Friday night\, then attend general and breakout sessions on Saturday. (In addition to learning and hands on experiences\, Wild Outdoor Women emphasizes the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants. DESCRIPTION:What is the Geocaching Adventure?\nThere are 25 Geocaching Adventure Caches hidden in county\, state and city parks around Warren County. Your challenge is to explore parks and find them all using a GPS. Each cache includes an instruction card\, a logbook\, and a stack of themed trading cards. Sign the logbook to show that you found the cache and take a trading card for your collection. Discover the parks in the evening or your back yard and see if you can identify a fungi. \nAfter finding all 25 caches\, take your 25 trading cards to the Annett Nature Center. We will give you the coordinates to find the last cache challenge. Take a picture of yourself with the very last card or all of your trading cards. Feel free to include family\, friends\, your dog or anyone else that helped you finish the challenge. All participants who successfully finish the challenge by November 1\, 2024 will receive a finisher’s token and your photo will be posted on our Facebook page as Geocaching Adventure Finisher. Then\, take the winter months off and check back in the spring for the next geocaching theme. \nGet Started Today!\n• Download all the coordinates from below onto your GPS (available April 1st)\n• Use the GPS device to determine your location in relation to the cache. Brad Green is also a meteorologist for the U.S. Air Force.
