Discover\, or rediscover\, the messy joy that comes with a good mud pile. We will be watering down a mud pit at the Annett Nature Center to celebrate this holiday. You can observe this festive day in any way you like\, make a mud pie\, have a mud bath\, or a mud mask!\nGet as muddy as you can\, we’ll have a hose available for a quick rinse-off after you are done enjoying yourself. Share your photos and tag us on Instagram or Facebook. DESCRIPTION:Have some fishing fun with us! Bring the family out to participate in the art of fishing. The fishing competition will take place at Lester Pond. There will be awards\, door prizes\, and a free fish-cleaning demonstration. Bring your own pole or borrow one of ours. Bait will be provided. You will also be able to try fish bites cooked by the Izaak Walton League. Fish will be fried in peanut oil. It’s FREE — join us! A fishing license is not required for participants at Kid’s Fish Day. Please register each child so we can plan for bait and materials! After this session\, you will be prepared to head out on your own and find the Warren County Geocaching Adventure caches.\n\nIt is a good idea to create an account on the geocaching app or on geocaching.com prior to the event. SUMMARY:Halloween Hike: How to Meet Your Dragon
DESCRIPTION:Head on out to the Annett Nature Center for our annual Halloween Hike. This non-scary hike is educational and fun for the whole family. You will be guided along the trail to meet different characters. After the hike you can make a craft and enjoy some treats. The cost is $5 per person and those under 3 are free. \n**Registration is required. \n**Hikes leave the nature center at 6:30\, 6:40\, 6:50\, 7:00\, 7:10\, 7:20\, and 7:30.\n \n**Please arrive at the Annett Nature Center 5-10 minutes early to get checked in. The hikes leave the nature center at the scheduled times. In order to maintain the schedule throughout the entire night\, we will not hold hikes. If you arrive late for your scheduled time\, we will do our best to get you into the next open time\, however that may be at the end of the night. If so\, this is the event for you. This workshop provides a comfortable environment to try new outdoor activities\, engage in hands-on workshops\, interactive sessions\, and guided activities led by experienced instructors.  You can campout and socialize Friday night\, then attend general and breakout sessions on Saturday. (In addition to learning and hands on experiences\, Wild Outdoor Women emphasizes the importance of fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all participants. Social gatherings\, group discussions\, and networking opportunities allow women to connect\, share experiences\, and build lasting friendships while breaking barriers and shattering stereotypes.) \nSession Information?\nThis year you can choose from sessions including: Evening Glow Canoeing\, Sunrise Yoga\, Snare/Trapping\, Shooting Sports\, Soap Making\, Blank Park Zoo\, Canning/Jam Making\, Eco-Friendly Painting\, Brew Your Own Kombucha\, Tea Mixology\, Flower Arrangement\, and Park Exploration. \nWho Can Attend?\nWomen 12 & older are invited to participate in this event. Come with your best friend\, mom\, daughter\, sister\, or come alone to meet new friends with similar interests! \nHow Do I Register?\nFill out the registration form and return it with payment. The registration fee is $65 and includes all meals\, activities\, and a Wild Outdoor Women gift. Registration deadline is May 12\, 2025\, but you will want to register as soon as possible since sessions are filled on a first-come\, first-served basis. SUMMARY:Pop Up Evening Prairie Burn
DESCRIPTION:*PROGRAM UPDATE*\nThe weather is still deciding what it wants to do. We may have the evening burn tomorrow night (Wednesday 4/23 at 7:30pm at the Annett Nature Center) but we aren’t sure about conditions just yet. We will post a final update tomorrow at noon!\n\n\n*POP UP PROGRAM ALERT!*\n\n\n \n\n\n🔥 We are going to be having an evening prairie burn at the Annett Nature Center\, and we want you to come experience the night glow with us!\n\n\nWarren County Conservation staff will use prescribed fire techniques to burn the old and weedy\, and open the ground for prairie rebirth. We will discuss the many ways that prescribed burns help maintain the health of the prairie. \n\n\n \n\n\n‼️ The conditions must be right in order to hold the prairie burn. We don’t have an exact date yet but we are planning either Wednesday\, April 23rd or Thursday\, April 24th. Since weather and conditions can change a lot between now and then\, we will put out a confirmed date by the Tuesday evening.
