Kids Fish Day

Saturday, June 5, 8:00 a.m.–11:30 a.m., Annett Nature Center

Come catch the lunkers of Lester Pond. Iowa residents do not need a fishing license to participate in this workshop, so bring the kids out and stay yourself to learn the art of fishing. Participants will learn the proper way to tie knots, cast and fish safely. There will be awards and door prizes given out as well as a hot dog luncheon following the fishing. If you bring a plain T-shirt we will also decorate it with a special design while you fish.

It’s FREE — join us. A fishing license is not required for participants (adults & children) at Kid’s Fish Day.Wild Women of the Woods

Osprey Welcome Ceremony

Thursday, July 15, 9:30 a.m. (date subject to change)
Annett Nature Center Hack Tower

What raptor can plunge 4 feet into the water in search of its next meal, is similar in size to a small eagle, can go through a “hacking” process at 4–6 weeks of age, and will return to Iowa within months? OSPREY! This magnificent bird has made its way back to Iowa. During July, the Warren County Conservation Board will welcome the Annett Nature Center’s newest residents — five fledgling osprey. Everyone is invited to get a close up look at the young osprey. After a short program, they will be placed in the hack tower, their home for the summer. Missy will be on hand to answer any osprey questions you may have daily from 8–10 a.m. while the birds are here.

Call Missy at (515) 961-6169 ext. 25 with questions, or to volunteer or donate to the program.
