Both the Summerset and Great Western Trails are open. Recent heavy rains upstream may impact them, but haven't as yet. All other parks are open.

Grant Nature Land remains closed due to high lake levels at Red Rock. The Great Western Trail is open. Summerset Trail is open, although the 5th Street bridge in Carlisle will likely remain barricaded until July 12.

Flood damage along the Summerset Trail from the last few weeks is evident. Lake Red Rock is rising and is about 8 inches from being the deck of the 5 Street bridge of the Summerset Trail in Carlisle, and within 1–2 feet of large sections of the trail from 158th Avenue to 138th Avenue.

Grant Nature Land is closed due to water levels in Lake Red Rock.
June 28, 2010 (morning)

North River is slightly above flood stage, but not yet over the Great Western Trail. Predictions are that the river will not rise more. Middle River is below flood stage, but Lake Red Rock is very high and still rising. It is likely that the lake will back up onto the Summerset Trail by later today and again force closure between 138th and 158th Avenues. Updates will be posted as needed.

June 24, 2010

Middle River has receded from the Summerset Trail. The closed section has been reopened.

June 23, 2010

Middle River continues to rise. A section of the Summerset Trail west of 158th Avenue (and several shorter sections further west) are under water. The Summerset Trail is closed between 138th Avenue and 158th Avenue.

June 16, 2010

North River has dropped and the Great Western Trail is open.

June 15, 2010

Middle River receded and the Summerset Trail is completely open.

Heavy Rains, High Water
Impact Warren County Trails

The Great Western and Summerset Trails have both been impacted by the rain-soaked spring weather. Both trails recently had sections closed due to flooding.

The Summerset Trail was underwater and closed just south of the intersection with 158th Avenue. Riders could use Dubuque Place to get around the submerged section.

The Great Western Trail was flooding and closed just north of North River. Several sections of county roads in the surrounding area were also underwater and there was no safe way to navigate around the closure.

The North River and Badger Creek flow over the Great Western Trail's flood relief apron just north of the North River bridge on June 15, 2010.

Culvert repairs are ongoing on the Great Western Trail south of Hempstead Street near Churchville and south of Fillmore Street and on the Summerset Trail in Carlisle. The Great Western repairs require riders to dismount and walk around the sites, while the Summerset repairs allow riders to continue without interruption. The WCCB appreciates your cooperation and patience with these situations.
